RICHMOND, Calif.—Aug. 10, 2022—New Sun Road partners with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) to provide its Stellar Microgrid OSTM as the remote monitoring and control platform for PG&E’s growing fleet of hybrid renewable energy standalone power systems. These rural grids can permanently replace overhead distribution power lines or provide power during Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) in High Fire-Threat Districts (HFTD), improving reliability and significantly reducing wildfire risk.

The Karume Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) is just down the road from Stonetown on the island of Unguja (Zanziba, Tanzania). KIST is a technical college offering Bachelor’s degrees, diploma, and vocational training in the practical sciences needed in any growing economy.

With New Sun Road doubling in revenues each year or more, we are pleased to welcome additional support in developing our programs and partnerships in Africa and operations to ensure timely delivery of our products for remotely controlling renewable energy microgrids.

Dr. Arrechea manages New Sun Road’s digital and remote energy access program in Guatemala. Her program connects over 1000 people to the internet with a focus on women’s leadership training and economic opportunity creation.

It all starts with a mom, Randy Ross. Her daughter is Shivani Ganguly, New Sun Road’s CFO. Shivani has worked at New Sun Road for about 3 years. She is dedicated to sustainability and our mission to accelerate energy and internet access to everyone, especially those in underserved communities.

When Santa Clara County commissioned Pallet Shelter to build Casitas de Esperanza, a 100-bed community to shelter the unhoused, they needed to figure out how to power the site. The location was outside the old San Jose City Hall, which lacked reliable utility power. Rather than paying the utility company’s $600,000 quote or power the site completely with generators, the county contracted BoxPower to energize the shelter with two microgrids: containerized solar + battery + backup generator.

On a sunny day, in a neighborhood in Kentucky, electronics and wires are laid out on a backyard table. Nate has just come back from Home Depot with some tools and is talking with Jose on the phone. Today they will install Stellar Edge™ to collect data from a solar-powered, “mobile microgrid” trailer enabled by the Internet of Things (IoT).

Michael Goldbach gave a stellar virtual presentation at the Microgrid Global Innovation Forum 2022 February 16 talking about applying IoT and AI to maximize renewable energy usage and minimize fuel based on the PowerGen work we did in Tanzania.
