To enhance local resilience and eliminate fire risk, PG&E recently deployed three new remote grid systems in California’s Tehama and Mariposa counties with several more anticipated for deployment in 2023 and up to 30 to be deployed by 2026 in collaboration with New Sun Road.

Frontier markets offer a unique opportunity for technology development and application. With the urgent need for cost-effective solutions, there is less resistance to new approaches creating an environment that fosters innovation.

In 2021, New Sun Road worked with communities in the Guatemalan highlands of Altavera Paz and established Women’s Leadership Committees (WLC) to support and operate Digital Community Centers (DCCs). With funding from Microsoft and USAID, New Sun Road installed 10 integrated PV systems, Stellar IS, to power and provide internet to establish the DCCs centers. For the people in these rural communities the results have been transformative.

The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) annual meeting, held in Nashville, Tennessee, drew more than 9000 attendees from co-ops across the United States. New Sun Road’s Robin Milshtein made the trip to Music City and shared these highlights.

Distributech International was held in “America’s finest city.” More than 16,000 attendees and 500 exhibitors from around the world gathered to showcase and discuss new technologies to move electricity from generation through transmission and distribution to the meter and delivering power to homes and businesses.

New Sun Road’s Chief Product Officer, Michael Goldbach, participated on a panel at the 16th Microgrid Global Innovation Forum alongside Andrew Mulherkar, Expert Product Manager, Microgrid Policy & Pricing Strategy at Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E), and Peter Asmus, Executive Director, Alaska Microgrid Group.

We are thrilled to welcome Robin Milshtein as Director of Business Development. Prior to joining New Sun Road, Robin led the commercialization activity at the climate tech startup WindBorne Systems, where she was responsible for launching a data-as-a-service platform for improved global weather forecasting.

Lee is a passionate Xicane activist pivoting careers to be more directly involved in taking climate action. They bring with them valuable skills from their diverse work experiences in interpretation, education, and advocacy. They’re also an experienced project manager and a beginner programmer.
