Off-grid renewable energy for cold storage Stellar managed microgrid Project Summary Partners Veggielution, BoxPower Sites San Jose, California Commissioned 2024 Description A canopy solar array of 12.6 kW PV power, 15 kWh battery, temperature monitoring, and a backup generator ensures fresh produce. Results Fresh produce for distribution and an educational example at a community garden.

With up to 500 kW of PV, battery storage and backup generators, Stellar manages the power system locally and offline. Optional connectivity support updates and remote access if enabled.

Description – With 142 kW of solar and 66 kWh battery storage powering a grocery store, Stellar provides energy management and peak shaving. Result- Remote monitoring and control to reduce utility costs by > $15,000 annually.

Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) contracted BoxPower to design, build, and operate a new Remote Grid at the Bechtel House within the preserve.

BoxPower provides clean, reliable, and affordable energy to rural consumers. They are partnering with New Sun Road to offer remote monitoring and management to meet the requirements of their utility customers. From energy audits to operation, BoxPower provides turnkey engineering, construction, and management services.

New Sun Road’s Stellar platform is monitoring and controlling Nuru’s 1.32 MW hybrid microgrid. Inaugurated in February 2020, the plant consists of four thousand 335W panels, batteries and a backup generator with a total capacity of 364kW. This microgrid serves about 750 households.
