2024 New Sun Road Highlights
New Sun Road has much to be grateful for this year and we deeply appreciate you and your collaboration. Now people rely on Stellar to monitor and operate more than 1,500 microgrids in 22 countries – connecting underserved communities, providing resilience in the face of climate change, and reducing the cost of power.

Commercial successes
New Sun Road is in PG&E’s Wildfire Mitigation Plan (on page 449 of 1634). Our Stellar platform manages their fleet of Remote Grids allowing them to decommission or de-energize transmission lines reducing wildfire risk.
For the second year in a row, we have our certificate for ISO/IEC 27001:2013, the world’s best-known standard for information security management systems (ISMS).
New Sun Road was highlighted through Microsoft‘s Climate Innovation Fund which invests in climate technologies that are carbon-negative, water-positive, zero-waste, and protect ecosystems.
New Sun Road launched Knowledge Base Articles on Stellar’s Energy Management System capabilities for value stacking with energy storage, feeder protection relays, and net generation output meters.
New Sun Road will partner with Oak Ridge National Laboratory on a project funded by the DOE Office of Technology Transitions (OTT) “Commercializing the Orchestration of Networked Microgrids.”
Impact projects
Out of 1,350 applications from 98 countries, New Sun Road was one of 10 winners in the first round of the Women in the Digital Economy Fund (WIDEF). This grant will allow us to double the number of solar-powered, women-led, Digital Community Centers in Guatemala from 30 to 60.
Dr. Susana Arrechea was awarded the Princess de Girona Award in Spain for her work leading New Sun Road’s initiative for solar-powered, women-led digital community centers in Guatemala.
We were awarded the Greater Good Award from Microgrid Knowledge, for our 30 women-led digital community centers in Northern Guatemala.
In a project with Gommyr and UK Innovate, New Sun Road will control a microgrid to provide ice, cold storage and EV transportation services for a fish market in Mozambique.
